On November 10-11 and 17-18, the Faith&Arts ministry hosted a visual art exhibition in the Parish Hall, as part of the East Austin Studio Tour (EAST).  It was our first time to participate in EAST, and we didn’t know exactly what to expect — would people come? Would it be well received?  Setting up the exhibition itself was an enormous undertaking and a real labor of love.  Bryson and Shaun spent many hours up at the Parish Hall the week before the exhibition opened, transforming our church meeting space into a beautiful gallery – most notably through the installation of a track lighting system.

In the end, all the work was definitely worthwhile. We estimate that about 200 non-church members visited the exhibition over the course of both weekends, and countless church members, as well. The participating artists were able to engage in conversations with our visitors about their art, their creative processes, and our church. It was an encouraging experience for the artists. Many of our visitors expressed their appreciation for the art and the space, as well as interest regarding our presence in the neighborhood, too.

We learned a lot about what we’ll do differently next year, but overall we’re thrilled with the way things turned out.  Many thanks to our hospitality volunteers, Bev and Jude.  We appreciate your help!

And thank you so much to those of you who visited our exhibition! We are grateful for your support, and we hope and pray that you were blessed by your experience.

Below are some pictures from the two weekends.
